About
I first learned ceramic arts in college in Texas, studying under Ruth Kahn. My professional career went in a different direction, but when I retired, the potter’s wheel called to me again.
In much of my work, the round form that comes off of the wheel is just the beginning. I paddle, prod, alter, and texture the piece to make a particular creation that I see in my mind beforehand. In a similar way, I will work with a flat slab of clay to create a unique serving vessel, usually elevated on three legs. These large platters are functional, but are often highly decorated and can be hung on a wall as art.
All of my work is high-fired stoneware, lead free, dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe.
